Effective August 17, 2026.
We are The Vigil Lamp. We keep this short, because your family's information is not a product.
This policy is in effect today. It covers the emails we already have from the founding list, not only emails collected after launch on August 25, 2026.
These practices follow the laws of the State of Florida, in the United States.
What we collect
- Email. When you register at /pre-register/ or subscribe, we collect your email address through Ghost Portal. That address is personal data. That is how we write to you, open your membership, and send the daily vigil. A card is collected at checkout when you start a paid trial.
- Payment. When you start a paid membership, Stripe collects your payment details. We do not store your full card number. Stripe does that work for us.
- Form messages. If you write us through the contact form, we receive your name, your email, your message, and whether you checked that you have children and may be testing a sample day.
- Ordinary site records. Ghost keeps the records a membership site needs: when you signed in, and the usual technical logs that keep the pages up.
That is the list.
Why we collect it
We use this information to:
- keep your membership working
- send the day's saint, and the occasional note about the service
- take payment, if you have chosen to subscribe
- answer you when you write
- understand, if you tell us, that you may be testing a sample day with children
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not trade it. We do not send your name to advertisers.
Cookies, Ghost, and Stripe
The site runs on Ghost. Payments run through Stripe.
Ghost uses cookies to keep you signed in and the pages working. Stripe uses its own tools to process payment. Both companies have their own privacy policies. We chose them because a small family offering needs tools that already know how to handle this carefully.
We are not in the business of following you around the internet.
Children (COPPA)
The Vigil Lamp is a service for families. A parent or guardian creates and owns the account. We do not ask children to sign up, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without a parent's consent, we will delete it. Write us.
The optional contact-form line — "I have children and may be testing a sample day" — is for the grown-up who is writing us. It is not a request for a child's name or other details.
How to reach us, or ask us to delete what we have
You can ask what we have. You can ask us to correct it or delete it.
Write to hello@thevigillamp.com. We will delete what we can. We may need to keep a short billing record if the law or Stripe requires it.
You can also unsubscribe from ordinary notes in any email we send. The day's vigil stops when you cancel.
If this policy changes
We will update this page. If the change is more than a small clarification, we will write to the email we have for you.
